Wir haben heute, 13. Juli, einen spannenden englischen UK-Vortrag um 16:00 - leider, sehr sehr kurzfristig, doch vielleicht gerade deswegen, denn oftmals zahlen sich ja spontane Sachen aus:

*'**Designing Alternative Communication Futures'

*The talk is about the relationships between disability and design,
particularly in the context of augmented communication. The collection
'Six Speaking Chairs' explored the role that interaction design can
play in interdisciplinary field of speech technology; the ongoing
project 'Imagining Technologies for Disability Futures' is using
design research to frame alternative futures for augmented
communication that reflect different people's stance about their own
disability.

bio:
Graham Pullin is Professor of Design and Disability at DJCAD, the
art college at the University of Dundee, Scotland and the author of
'Design meets disability'. He co-founded Studio Ordinary, a meeting of
design research and disability studies. Projects include 'Hands of X'
which co-created prosthetic hands with wearer/mentors in an eyewear
shop and 'Imagining technologies for disability futures' that will
explore alternative everyday futures for augmentative communication.
His mid-career PhD '17 ways to say yes' combined interaction design,
with an obsession with Kempelen's speaking machine and phonetics -
maybe a result of seeing My Fair Lady at too formative an age.
Previously Graham studied engineering at Oxford, design at the Royal
College of Art and led a studio at design group IDEO.
